For all of you aliens yearning for the right of permanent residency in the USA, it is that time of the year again to enter the green card lottery run by the US State Department. Up to 55,000 permanent resident visas will be awarded to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. Natives of the following countries with high immigation rates are not eligible to apply:

Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. Persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible for the lottery.

The free online application must be completed by noon on December 2, 2007.
